About Steven Forbis
Current Roles
Steven Forbis is an Associate Professor of Information Systems & Management at the Walla Walla University School of Business, where he teaches Computer Business Applications, Information Systems, Data Analytics and Visualization, and Operations Management. He is passionate about equipping students with the technical and analytical skills needed to solve business challenges and thrive in today's technology-driven workplace.
Education
Forbis earned a Doctor of Education (EdD) with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration.
Professional & Academic Journey
Before joining academia, Forbis built a successful career in information technology, bringing more than 20 years of industry experience as a manager and network engineer, including 16 years with a Fortune 100 company. His professional background provides students with valuable real-world insight into business technology, operations, and leadership. He has also served as a substitute teacher in both public and private elementary and secondary schools, further demonstrating his commitment to education and student development. His research interests include company culture and its impact on employee performance and retention, as well as motivation and leadership. He was awarded the WWU School of Business Teaching Excellence Award.
Beyond the Classroom
Outside the classroom, he enjoys traveling, cooking, flying, spending time with friends and family, and active involvement in his local church, including serving as Pathfinder Director.
