About Stephen Pilgrim
Current Roles
Stephen Pilgrim is Professor of Economics and Marketing at the Walla Walla University School of Business, where he teaches courses in economics, marketing, and management. He is committed to preparing students for leadership in an increasingly interconnected global economy by combining academic theory with practical, international perspectives. In addition, he is very mission-oriented in his style of teaching and enjoys coaching, mentoring, and encouraging students to reach their full potential for service to God and mankind.
Education
Pilgrim earned a PhD in Economics from the University of the West Indies, a Master of Arts in Marketing from the University of Westminster in London, a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Reading, and a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies.
Professional & Academic Journey
Pilgrim brings decades of international experience in higher education, business, consulting, and organizational leadership. Throughout his career, he has served as a professor at institutions across the United States, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, and Mexico, including Middlesex University (UK), the University of Southern Caribbean, the University of the West Indies, the University of Montemorelos, and Walla Walla University. His leadership experience includes serving as Vice President for Development and Planning at the University of Southern Caribbean, Director of the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago, Lead Auditor for ISO Quality Management Systems throughout the Latin American and Caribbean region, and Principal Consultant for selected organizations in the United States, United Kingdom, and South America. He has also completed postgraduate certificates in Higher Education, Marketing, and Project Management and maintains professional memberships with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Management in the United Kingdom. His research focuses on leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, foreign direct investment (FDI), global marketing, investment promotion, and strategies for the growth and transformation of micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises. He has authored and presented academic publications on international economics and economic development, particularly within the Caribbean region; and is an Adjunct Professor and Board Member for several institutions.
Beyond the Classroom
Pilgrim enjoys motivational speaking, singing, preaching, outdoor activities, and traveling with his family. He is a family man, who loves God, and who seeks to live a truly purpose-driven life.
