When CNN needed an expert on octopus behavior, they called Walla Walla University’s own Kirt Onthank, professor of biology and octopus expert. Onthank was featured in a national news segment this week, offering insight into the unique behavior of these mysterious sea creatures.
This isn’t the first time national media have sought out Onthank’s expertise—he was also featured by NBC last year and has contributed to research covered by outlets including Popular Science and ScienceAlert. Whether it’s energy use in octopus camouflage or helping the public better understand marine life, Onthank’s work continues to reach far beyond the classroom.
