Walla Walla University Athletics was recognized as an NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Award winner at the Gold level by the NAIA national office Wednesday. WWU was one of 135 schools to earn Gold-level recognition and one of 203 institutions nationwide to receive the award for the 2025-26 academic year.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our coaches, staff, and student-athletes who intentionally pursue excellence in both character and competition,” said Nestor Osorio, WWU athletics director. "At Walla Walla University, our mission of Building Faith Together reminds us that athletics is about more than performance, it is an opportunity to develop Christ-centered leaders who serve others with integrity, respect, and humility. We are grateful that the NAIA has recognized our commitment to these values, and we remain committed to shaping young people whose impact extends far beyond the playing field.
Institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year. The Wolves earned a perfect score of 100 points.
