Class Enrollment Guide: Planning Your Path to Degree Completion

Registering for classes at Walla Walla University is a sequential process designed to keep you on track for Degree Completion. Using the Highpoint Campus Experience portal, you can monitor your academic progress, plan future Quarters, and secure your schedule.

1. Review Your Degree Audit and Select Classes Your degree audit is the official roadmap for your time at Walla Walla University. The most efficient way to build your schedule is to select classes directly from your unmet requirements. This is where you can see your progress towards earning your degree. Come back here often.

  1. Log in to the Highpoint portal.
  2. Navigate to your Student Dashboard Academics menu and select the Degree Progress tile.
  3. Review your unsatisfied requirements, paying close attention to your General Studies requirements and major-specific courses.
  4. Click directly on an unsatisfied requirement to view the list of approved courses that will fulfill it.
  5. Select a course from that list and use the on-screen options to add it directly to your Planner or Shopping Cart.
  6. If you are uncertain about course prioritization, consult your academic advisor or your Department Chair or School Dean.

2. Add Additional Classes to Your Planner If you need to search for elective courses or map out your long-term academic trajectory, the Planner tool allows you to schedule courses multiple Quarters in advance.

  1. From the Highpoint dashboard Enrollment menu, select the Planner tile.
  2. Use the course search function to locate any specific classes you did not already add directly from your degree audit.
  3. Assign each course to a specific future Quarter to ensure you complete prerequisites in the correct sequence.

3. Move Classes to Your Shopping Cart As registration approaches, make sure your planned classes are moved into your Shopping Cart. This staging area allows you to validate your schedule and confirm you meet all prerequisites before registration opens.

  1. Open the Planner tile in Highpoint.
  2. Select the specific class sections and times that fit your schedule for the upcoming Quarter.
  3. Choose the option to add these selections to your Shopping Cart.
  4. Run the validation tool within the Shopping Cart. This is a critical step to identify any potential time conflicts or missing prerequisites prior to your enrollment date.

4. Enroll at Your Enrollment Appointment Placing classes in your Shopping Cart does not register you for them. You must officially enroll once your designated Enrollment Appointment begins.

Important Reminder: Do not attempt to enroll in classes one-by-one. If you are registering for courses with co-requisite requirements (such as a lecture and a corresponding lab), both classes must be in your Shopping Cart and selected so you can submit them together. The system will block individual enrollment for co-requisite classes.

  1. Verify your Enrollment Appointment date and time on your Highpoint Student Dashboard.
  2. Refresh your highpoint session precisely at, or a few seconds, after their designated time
  3. Once your appointment begins, open the Shopping Cart tile.
  4. Select the classes you wish to register for and submit your enrollment request.
  5. Verify that the status indicator for each class successfully updates to a green "Enrolled" status.

5. Troubleshooting Common Enrollment Errors Sometimes enrollment requests encounter errors due to system logic or academic records restrictions.

  1. Prerequisite Errors: Verify in your Academic Records that the prerequisite course was completed with a passing grade. Transfer credits may occasionally require manual review. Contact your Advisor for specific help.
  2. Use the "Swap" Feature, Don't Drop: If you need to switch sections or swap one elective for another, always use the Swap option in Highpoint. If the new class is full or fails validation, the system will keep you safely enrolled in your original class.
  3. Server Time Precision: Enrollment windows open down to the exact second according to university database time. If you receive an error stating your enrollment window has not opened yet, wait 30 seconds, refresh your Highpoint dashboard, and try submitting your cart again.
  4. Time Conflicts: The Highpoint system will not allow you to register for overlapping classes. You must return to the Class Search and select a different section or an alternate course to resolve the conflict. If no other options are possible, use the Change of Registration form to request a Time Conflict approval.
  5. Hold Errors: Check the Tasks or Holds tile on your Highpoint dashboard for instructions on clearing financial or administrative restrictions that prevent enrollment. Follow the included link to see additional details including contact information on who can help with that hold.
