Homeschool Students
A Top Choice for Homeschool Graduates Seeking Faith-Based Education
Homeschool students flourish at Walla Walla University!
We understand that moving from independent learning to a structured classroom environment is a significant change. WWU provides comprehensive support to help homeschool graduates thrive:
- Christian Community: Walla Walla University provides a nurturing Christian community where students from all backgrounds come together for vibrant campus worship experiences and faith is at the heart of every class. Our students serve God and their community through worship together and as missionaries across the world.
- JumpStart Week: Our various orientations help new students learn campus, meet their academic advisor, and how to access resources before classes begin.
- Mentor Program: Every freshman receives a personal mentor who checks in weekly to help with academics, time management, choosing a major, and adjusting to college life, and research shows this required program increases first-year success and GPA.
- Academic Support: Frequent check-ins with academic advisors and other faculty provide personalized guidance, and Disability Support Services offers accommodations for students with learning differences or ADHD.
- Small Classes: You'll receive personal attention from professors in a supportive Christian environment.
- So much more! Come visit to see for yourself!
Student Spotlight
Here's what Juliana has to say about coming to WWU from a homeschool background:
“The thing I have enjoyed about WWU the most is how many friends I have been able to meet here. As a homeschooler, I had many friends, but coming to college has opened my horizons to even more people who have sincerely enriched my life.”
Explore your future:
The best way to explore your future at WWU is to visit campus in person. High school students and their families find that experiencing campus life firsthand makes all the difference. A visit helps you make a confident decision about your college choice and sets you up for success at WWU.
Our guests consistently rave about their WWU visits, and we're here to help. We offer financial assistance to cover travel and lodging costs.
Individual campus visits are available year-round, either in person or online. You’ll enjoy a personalized experience where you can meet with professors in your areas of interest, tour our campus, connect with Student Financial Services to learn about scholarships and funding, and maybe sit in on a class or two.
U-Days visits are a great way to immerse yourself in WWU’s college life, along with other prospective students from across the country. Offered in March and April, these visits feature engaging activities and opportunities to explore your areas of interest.
Steps to enrollment:
Your enrollment application kicks off an exciting process that includes exploring scholarships and financial aid, holding your spot in classes, arranging your lodging and more. Your dedicated WWU recruiter is an excellent resource, and our Steps to Enrollment check sheet is a convenient way to track your progress.
About admissions and scholarships:
Students who graduate from accredited homeschools: If your academic transcript and curriculum are from an organization outside of your home, submit an enrollment application and provide academic transcripts (sixth semester or later).
Students who graduate from an alternative homeschool program: If your academic transcripts and curriculum are not provided through an external organization, you will be admitted based on successful adherence to your home state's graduation requirements. Students should submit an enrollment application and provide academic transcripts (sixth semester or later) to be reviewed for adherence to state requirements.
All homeschool students should meet minimum GPA requirements for admission and may be eligible to receive merit awards based on either cumulative GPA or ACT/SAT test scores. Visit our scholarship web page to learn more about merit awards.
