Hannah Gordon, senior music and education major, will sing an aria with the Walla Walla Symphony in the “Symphony Series: For the Love of Opera” concert in late March.
Gordon grew up in Walla Walla surrounded by a music-loving family. Her passion for singing began at a young age as her voice became her way to celebrate the world around her. “As a child, I could hardly go a moment without bursting into song because life is beautiful, and I believed that fact needed celebration–especially at the very top decibel level of my lungs!” Gordon said.
Gordon had a difficult time deciding which major to select at Walla Walla University, but her father gave her the courage she needed to pursue her love of music. “When times got tough and the stress felt insurmountable, his belief in me brought about resilience,” Gordon said. In the future, Gordon plans to continue to work in music, go on music-filled adventures, and enter the choral music profession in Walla Walla or the surrounding area.
Gordon will sing in Act 2 (Love Duet) from Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde with world renowned soprano Sarah Marie Kramer and tenor Cameron Schultza under the direction of conductor Yaacov Bergman during the program. “It is astounding to get the opportunity to work with so many talented and professional musicians who have so much experience and whom I deeply respect,” Gordon said.
The “Symphony Series: For the Love of Opera '' concert will happen on March 28 at 7 p.m. in Cordiner Hall, located at 46 S. Park St., Walla Walla. Tickets for the concert may be purchased at wwsymphony.org.
