The music department to host annual Piano Festival featuring guest, faculty, and student performers

The Walla Walla University Department of Music will be hosting their annual Piano Festival next week in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. This two-part event will take place on April 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

To kick off the festival, the Guest and Faculty Recital will feature guest artists Elinor Freer and Andrew Harley, both faculty at the Eastman School of Music, and faculty artist Karlyn Bond, chair and professor of the music department. All of the evening’s works will be for piano four hands (or duets) and will include original works and arrangements by Bach, Schubert, Brahms, Dvořák, Bernstein, and Rossini.

The second evening will host the Piano Student Master Class, where Freer and Harley will coach WWU piano majors in solo and chamber works. The performing students will be Mia Chai, Miah Davis, Brooklyn Gerber, Austin Price, Kayla Hastings, Zane Tungesvik, Jordan Butcher, Amanda Kitto, and Cristina Showalter. Composers featured will include Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Borodin, and Chopin.
