‘Every Bell on Earth Shall Ring’

Department of Music Christmas concert now online for Christmas viewing with family and friends

The annual Walla Walla University Department of Music Christmas concert, originally performed Friday, Dec. 8, in the University Church is available online at wallawalla.edu/concert for viewing during the Christmas season with family and friends.

The concert this year, “Every Bell on Earth Shall Ring,” centered on the traditional Christmas element of bells, which are much celebrated in Christmas music. The pieces performed in the program range from the 17th century to the present day, from familiar to brand new, from majestic to intimate. The concert features voices and instruments that imitate bell sounds, texts about bells, and actual bells as well.

I Cantori of Walla Walla University, the WWU select choir, which performed during the concert, recently released a CD titled, “A Colony of Heaven in the Country of Death.” Inspired by a phrase in Eugene Peterson’s commentary on Ephesians, the album aims to remind listeners of the importance of working toward unity, fellowship, and growth in a world that desperately needs God’s love.

If you are interested in obtaining a CD copy, call the WWU Department of Music at (509) 527-2561.
