Guest artist and faculty recital

WWU Department of Music features performances by Lyndon Johnston Taylor and Jinhyang Park 

Violinist Lyndon Johnston Taylor and pianist Jinhyang Park will present a recital at Walla Walla University on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. The recital will feature works by Prokofiev, Wieniawski, Ysaÿe, and Piazzolla.

Johnston Taylor is the principal second violin with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Benjamin H. Culley teaching artist in residence at Occidental College. He has a doctor of musical arts degree from the Juilliard School and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Coleman Chamber Music Award, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago Soloist Auditions, the Joseph Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and the Lipizer International Competition in Italy.

Park is an assistant professor of music at WWU. She has performed in master classes for renowned pianists including John O’Conor, Rebecca Penneys, Barbara Bonney, José van Dam, and Laurence Lesser. This summer, Park will perform in the Leo Artists Showcase at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City and will serve as a judge for the 2019 New York International Music Concours. She has performed as a soloist and collaborative artist at locations including New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Seoul, and Tokyo. Park has a doctor of musical arts degree from Boston University.

The recital on Jan. 29 will be held in the Melvin K. West Fine Arts Center Auditorium, 204 S. College Ave., College Place. Parking is available at the corner of College Avenue and Fourth Street in College Place. The recital is free and open to the public.
