WWU Music Department and wwudrama are collaborating to present this season's opening production, "A Year with Frog and Toad." Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved books and featuring a hummable score, this whimsical musical follows two great friends—the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad—through four fun-filled seasons.
Waking from hibernation in the spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make-believe... all charm, "A Year with Frog and Toad" tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.
The cast of characters is composed of WWU students. The production features, in its titular roles, Jacob Mayes as Frog and Jamie Palmer as Toad. The cast is rounded out by twelve other students. Many other WWU students are helping out behind the scenes, including working on sets, live music, props, costuming, and lighting. The show is directed by Christine Janis and Jerry Entze, and is under the music direction of Kraig Scott.
There are five showings in total, with a 7 p.m. curtain on November 6, 11, and 16, and a 2 p.m. curtain on November 7 and 14. The play will be held in Village Hall, 207 S. College Ave., College Place.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, and all proceeds from opening night ticket sales will go to the Donnie Rigby Scholarship Fund. Tickets are only available for purchase online at wallawalla.edu/drama. Face coverings must be worn while in the theater.
