Academic Programs
The School of Education and Psychology offers bachelor’s degrees in elementary, secondary, and science education, as well as psychology and forensic psychology. Students can focus their studies with a variety of minors and content areas. Education students may also benefit from several graduate programs. These programs will help you build a strong, practical foundation and equip you to launch a career.
Education Programs
Elementary Education Major (Bachelor of Science)
Students taking the B.S. in elementary education take both the elementary education major and select a minor or an approved content area.
Secondary Education Double Major (Bachelor of Education)
Students who study the B.Ed. in secondary education take a major from an approved secondary endorsement area in which they plan to teach (like history or biology) and pair it with the B.Ed. They do not need to take an additional minor.
Science Education Major (Bachelor of Science)
Students taking the B.S. in science education can select one or more concentrations in biology, chemistry, or physics. It is recommended to complete this degree as a double major with secondary education.
Education minor
This is smart choice for those interested in education, but who do not plan to pursue K–12 classroom teaching. Course requirements—Education minor
Special Education minor
When taken alongside an elementary education major, this minor can lead toward an endorsement in special education; non-education majors may use the practices to enhance their own specialty area. Course requirements—Special Education minor
Psychology programs
Psychology Major (Bachelor of Arts)
Students pursuing the B.A. in psychology take a core of psychology classes as well as related courses in biology and philosophy. They also get to take language classes and select a minor. This is a flexible major that will prepare you for a wide variety of careers.
Psychology Major (Bachelor of Science)
Students taking the B.S. in psychology take a core of psychology classes as well as related courses in biology and philosophy. They also get to complete a practicum and senior thesis in psychology. This major is best for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in psychology.
Forensic Psychology Major (Bachelor of Science)
Students studying forensic psychology will take classes in psychology, anthropology, corrections, and sociology. They also take related classes in biology and philosophy. This major is best for students pursuing careers in law enforcement, parole, and probation.
Psychology minor
