Walla Walla University received several awards for graphic design and video production at the Society of Adventist Communicators Convention Awards Banquet. Adventist communicators from across the country attend this annual convention, which was held in 2018 at the headquarters of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists in Columbia, Maryland.

The Society of Adventist Communicators Convention, which took place in October, provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to network and meet people who are working in the field of communication. Particularly, those who work or want to work for Seventh-day Adventist churches or ministry programs.

“The number of professional communicators and communication scholars in the Seventh-day Adventist church is relatively small,” said Linda Crumley, professor of communication and chair of the Department of Communication and Languages. “Meeting some of these people at SAC greatly expands the chance that a student will be remembered in the future when internships and job opportunities become available.”

Crumley said she hopes students left the SAC Convention with new contacts and a better understanding of what employment in the field of communication requires.
