The Department of Marketing and University Relations is the interface between the Walla Walla University campus family and the wider community. The MUR office also assists the various departments at WWU with a variety of marketing and communication needs.
Frequently asked questions
WWU is committed to facilitating efficient and effective communication between all members of our university family. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the WWU announcement system to advertise upcoming events and to post announcements that are specifically related to life and business at WWU.
The announcement system sends a single email at 11 a.m. on Sunday through Friday. This email incorporates all announcements submitted by the campus community and approved by the announcement moderator.
You can post an announcement for approval at wallawalla.edu/announcements >.
Marketing and University Relations is equipped to assist campus departments in creating individualized marketing materials for promotional and recruiting purposes. This includes design and development of brochures, programs, and advertisements to promote WWU and its departments.
Design requests are considered in the order they are received and are adopted and prioritized according to institutional goals and strategic initiatives. Please note that most projects require at least three to four weeks to complete.
You can find the phone numbers, office room numbers, and email addresses of WWU faculty and staff by searching for their name or title in the search bar at the top of this page or at mywwu.wallawalla.edu.
In an effort to provide up-to-date information, our office no longer distributes a printed version of this directory.
Marketing and University Relations maintains a master Google calendar for the university. This master calendar is made up of seven contributing calendars:
- Administration calendar
- Academics calendar
- Arts calendar
- Athletics calendar
- Chaplain’s calendar
- Campus Life calendar
- Alumni calendar
Please contact your department administrator if you would like to add an event to one of these calendars.
If you have questions, please contact Alix Harris at Alix.Harris@wallawalla.edu or call (509) 527-2514.
There are several ways to promote your event to the WWU campus community
Daily announcements. An email compilation of events and announcements is sent to all students, faculty, and staff at 11 a.m. on Sunday through Friday. Announcements about official WWU news and events can be submitted at mywwu.wallawalla.edu/announcements.
Questions about daily announcements can be sent to Kim Strobel at Kim.Strobel@wallawalla.edu.
Posters on campus. You can post approved posters at various locations on campus. To get your poster approved, take it to the Student Life office. This approval process applies to materials from students, faculty, staff, and off-campus organizations. View the WWU Posting Policy >
Request news coverage. Requests for event promotion through WWU social media (Facebook/Twitter/Snapchat), the WWU newsfeed, and the WWU homepage carousel are considered as they are received. Submit news coverage requests to Kim Strobel at Kim.Strobel@wallawalla.edu.
Add to the online calendar. Contact the department that is sponsoring the event to have your event added to the online calendar. You can access the calendar at wallawalla.edu/calendar.
Make a post about your event in the WWU app. The WWU app is widely used by students, faculty, and staff. If you have a WWU email, you can login and post an announcement on the community feed to promote your event.
Announcement slide at CommUnity. With 24-hour notice, you can submit a slide to the student life manager to be shown prior to the start of the weekly CommUnity program.
Walla Walla University live-streams certain events throughout the year, including:
