Short Term Missions

Guide to short term service trips

Short term service trips provide opportunities for young adults to discover their vocational calling, learn about other cultures, and grow spiritually through seeing God at work in their efforts.

At Walla Walla University, we are actively inviting students into a discipleship experience that expresses Jesus' two primary commands: Come and Go. Jesus calls us to Come, learn, commit our lives, and be transformed into His beautiful and loving character. But then Jesus encourages us to Go and share the love and gospel with others through authentic engagement and compassionate service. We believe short term service trips serve a vital role in developing that discipleship lifestyle.

Short term service trips are defined as any service-related trip outside the Walla Walla Valley lasting anywhere from five days to two months. University sponsored trips will have an approved sponsor, must happen over school breaks, and are typically made up of a minimum of 10 students.

Trips can be organized and led by any Walla Walla University employee, but all trips must be approved by the WWU Travel Proposal Committee and processed in collaboration with the Student Missions office.
