Winter orchestra and choir concert

University Singers, I Cantori, and Symphony Orchestra to be featured in annual winter concert

The Walla Walla University Department of Music will present its annual winter orchestra and choir concert on Saturday, March 4, at 4 p.m. in the Walla Walla University Church. The concert will feature the WWU Symphony Orchestra directed by Brandon Beck, associate professor of music, as well as the University Singers and I Cantori directed by Kraig Scott, professor of music.

The University Singers will perform a variety of pieces culminating with “Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Refuge,” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. This piece for both orchestra and choir uses the words of Psalm 90 against the tune for a hymn by Isaac Watts. I Cantori will perform songs from their recent Oregon tour along with new pieces they will perform during their upcoming spring break tour to North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

The orchestra will perform pieces by Frescobaldi/Kindler, Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Alexander Borodin, and Felix Mendelssohn.

The Walla Walla University Church is located at 212 S.W. Fourth Street in College Place. The concert is free and open to the public. A live stream will be available at www.wallawalla.edu/concert.
