WWU basketball teams win five All-Conference Awards during winter quarter

Five student athletes from Walla Walla University received Cascade Collegiate Conference Academic Awards during winter quarter. The awards are presented by U.S. Bank to student atheletes for outstanding athletic and academic performance. The awards were presented to students of at least sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Four of the awards were presented to members of the men’s basketball team and one to the women’s basketball team.

  • Zayne Browning, Junior, Health Science (MBB)

  • Javier Simpkins, Sophomore, Psychology (MBB)

  • Avery Stuart, Sophomore, Biology (MBB)

  • Morgan Stanyer, Senior, Health Science (WBB)

“Being a student athlete is two full time jobs and to be able to be honored for both of them is an extreme honor for those student athletes,” Logan Adams, WWU associate athletic director of sports information, said. “We know ultimately that the most important part of being a student athlete is getting a well-rounded education at WWU, and we would like to thank the faculty for their continued support in helping our student-athletes reach excellence.”
