Kraig Scott to introduce new continuo organ at October 7 recital

The Walla Walla University Department of Music will host a faculty recital on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Walla Walla University Church.

The recital will feature Kraig Scott, professor of music at WWU, as he plays pieces by French composers Couperin and Franck on the church’s grand Casavant organ, which houses 69 stops, 92 ranks and 4,982 pipes. Scott will also introduce the audience to WWU’s newest organ, a small continuo built in 1980, which is comprised of only three stops, three ranks, and 153 pipes. On the “small in size, great in sound” continuo, Scott will perform pieces by German Baroque composers Pachelbel and Bach.

This event is free and open to the public. The Walla Walla University Church is located on 212 SW 4th Street, College Place, WA 99324. For more information, call (509) 527-2563 or visit music.wallawalla.edu.
