Two new teams to be added to the WWU athletics program

""

Walla Walla University is adding women’s soccer and men’s volleyball programs to it’s Athletics department. The varsity programs will officially begin in the fall and WWU is excited about the growth of its athletic offerings.

The new additions will provide an opportunity for WWU to recruit athletes from all over the world, bringing a greater span of diversity to the university campus. Athletic director Nestor Osorio says, "God has blessed our program with amazing coaches, students, sponsors, and supporters, and we are grateful to do our part to bring student-athletes who are aware of and committed to WWU’s values, mission, and vision."

WWU’s new women's soccer team will play several Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) teams as well as non-conference matches, scrimmages, and friendly games in different states as they use this year to build a strong program. Osorio hopes that by 2025, WWU women's soccer will make their appearance in the CCC season and playoffs.

Men's volleyball will operate in non-conference play, as the CCC does not support men’s volleyball. The team will travel to other schools—such as University of Washington, Eastern Washington University, and Washington State University—for competition in tournament play. WWU Athletics also hopes to host tournaments on its College Place campus, bringing visiting teams to the Walla Walla Valley that might not otherwise do so.
