The Express becomes Blue Zones Project approved restaurant

By demonstrating a commitment to offering healthy meal options, Walla Walla University’s The Express grill has met the requirements to become a Blue Zones Project approved restaurant. This certification works to improve the overall health of the community by making it easier to make healthy food and drink choices even when outside the home.

The Blue Zones Project Walla Walla Valley is a community health and well-being initiative funded by Adventist Health. They aim to make the Walla Walla Valley a happier, healthier place to live, work, and play by linking people, places, and policy. The Express is one of only seven local restaurants certified by the project. The convenient on-campus location of The Express makes smart nutritional choices more available especially to WWU students, faculty, and staff.

Walla Walla University and Adventist Health partnered with the Blue Zones Project to bring them to Walla Walla for the health and well-being of the community. Students, faculty, and staff can get involved with the project by participating in purpose workshops, or working as interns and volunteers in connection with the WWU Center for Humanitarian Engagement.

The Express is located at 206 S. College Ave., College Place; for more about the CHE and the Blue Zones Project go to wallawalla.edu/CHE.
