Walla Walla University students who are organizing the annual student-run series of evangelistic meetings called InTents are meeting the challenges of COVID-19 restrictions by moving the meetings to a podcast format. Two episodes of the InTents podcast will be released each week for three weeks. The first episode will be available Monday, May 11, at 7 p.m. on Spotify.
For the past 28 years, the Public Evangelism class at WWU, taught by Pedrito Maynard-Reid, professor of biblical studies and missiology, has conducted this springtime series of meetings in a large, colorful tent that is pitched on campus. While the venue this year will be quite different, the messages presented will continue to strive to inspire and encourage listeners.
The theme this year—Are We Tripping?—will focus on individual journeys with Christ. Student speakers for the event will be:
• Briana Hernandez, senior religion major.
• John Aitken, junior theology major.
• Jared Frost, senior theology major.
• Ryan Bing, senior theology and business administration major.
• Emily Ellis, senior theology major.
• Kraig Davis, senior theology major.
In planning, organizing, and speaking for the meetings, students develop valuable skills for the workplace, such as public speaking, creative thinking, and teamwork, and learn how to make ministry a central part of their lives.
