2016 InTents meetings

Student speakers will talk about our actively involved God

The 2016 InTents meetings, hosted by the Associated Students of Walla Walla University (ASWWU), will be held May 2–7 from 7–8 p.m. on the Kretschmar Lawn. The meeting on May 7 will begin at 5 p.m. InTents is a series of outdoor meetings led by student speakers that focuses on one theme throughout the week. The theme this year, “God’s Not There,” will show that the God we share is not a distant God, but instead is actively involved and has been with us since the creation of the world. CommUnity on Tuesday, May 3, will also be a part of the InTents meetings and will be presented by Jonathan Stephan, senior theology major.

As part of InTents, ASWWU is working with the WWU Amnesty International Club to raise awareness of homelessness in the Walla Walla Valley. To focus attention on this issue, students will be sleeping in tents on Kretschmar Lawn May 3–6. ASWWU and the WWU Amnesty International Club are also collecting donations of nonfood items that homeless shelters often need, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, socks, towels, and blankets. Donations will be collected at receptacles at the InTents meetings and at Foreman Hall and Sittner Hall lobbies.

A variety of WWU clubs will provide food for all attendees of the InTents meetings. Please bring blankets and pillows for your comfort on the lawn during the meetings.

InTents speakers will be:

Monday, May 2, at 7 p.m.—Ben Steenfott, senior theology major
Tuesday, May 3, at 11 a.m.—Jonathan Stephan, senior theology major
Tuesday, May 3, at 7 p.m.—Timothy Oliver, senior theology major
