Thursday, June 13, 2019


Commencement Rehearsal Lunch
Rigby Hall Courtyard—12 p.m.
President and Mrs. McVay and Cabinet invite all graduates—graduating seniors and graduate students—to come by for lunch before the start of Commencement Rehearsal. In the event of inclement weather, the lunch will be held in the Alaska Room (Kellogg Hall).


Commencement Rehearsal
Centennial Green—1 p.m.
Graduates will practice for the Commencement ceremony and receive details about weekend activities, ordering pictures, etc.

Friday, June 14, 2019


Bachelor's Degree in Psychology Recognition
Heubach Chapel (University Church)—1 p.m.
Dedication service to honor graduating psychology majors. Reception immediately following. Family and friends are welcome to attend.


Engineering Senior Reception
Fellowship Hall (University Church)—6 p.m.
Reception to recognize engineering graduates and for their families to meet engineering faculty.


Consecration
University Church—8 p.m.
Senior class presents the evening vespers program.


Graduate Reception
Kellogg Hall—9 p.m.(after consecration)
The Alumni and Parent Relations Office invites graduates, their families, and faculty and staff to a reception immediately following the Consecration service.

Sabbath, June 15, 2019


FirstServe, Baccalaureate
University Church—9:30 a.m.
FirstServe is an informal service featuring contemporary praise music. Brad Brown a 1998 WWU graduate who is director of mission and spiritual care for Adventist Health in Paradise, California, will be the speaker.


Sabbath School
University Church—10:30 a.m.
Consult the University Church bulletin (available at the door and online at wwuchurch.org) for a list of Sabbath School options, meeting times and locations.


Second Service, Baccalaureate
University Church—11:45 a.m.
Second Service is a traditional church service. Our speaker will be Brad Brown, a 1998 WWU graduate who is director of mission and spiritual care for Adventist Health in Paradise, California.


Teacher Dedication
Walla Walla Valley Academy Auditorium—3 p.m.
Dedication service to honor those graduating with degrees in elementary education, secondary certification, and master's programs with certification. All are welcome to attend.


Social Work and Sociology Pinning and Dedication Ceremony
Heubach Chapel (University Church)—3:30 p.m. 
Dedication service to honor bachelor of social work and sociology graduates. Reception immediately following. All are welcome to attend.


Nurses' Pinning
University Church—4 p.m. 
Ceremony to welcome newly graduating nurses into the nursing profession. All are welcome to attend.


Theology Senior Dedication
Heubach Chapel (University Church)—5 p.m. 
Dedication service to honor graduating theology and religion majors. All are welcome to come and show support for the young ministers and bible workers as they meet together one last time before they pursue their future for Christ.


Strawberry Dessert Reception
Fine Arts Center Lawn—6 p.m. 
Senior class officers invite graduates and their families to enjoy strawberries and ice cream. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will be held in Kellogg Hall.


Master's Degree Hooding Ceremony
Walla Walla Valley Academy auditorium—7 p.m. 
Family and friends of master's degree candidates are invited to this celebration of achievement. Reception immediately following.


Evensong
University Church—8 p.m. 
This sunset service features organ music by Kraig Scott, professor of music, and the spoken word presented by Montgomery Buell.

Graduate Group Photographs
Kretschmar Hall Lawn—7:30 a.m. 
Graduates gather to be photographed and then line up in marching order for the Commencement processional.


Administration/Board/Emeriti/Faculty/Staff 
Rigby Hall Sidewalk—8:00 a.m. 
Administration, Board, Emeriti, Faculty, and Staff line up on the sidewalk west of Rigby Hall in marching order for Commencement processional. The marshals will give you instructions at that time.


Commencement
Centennial Green—8:30 a.m. 
Karl Haffner, a 1985 WWU graduate who is senior pastor of the Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church and the father of a 2019 graduate, will give the Commencement address. 

Regrettably, there is no adequate alternative facility in which to conduct Commencement in the event of inclement weather. If rain is forecast, please come prepared for it. 

Seating is available. Up to 8 seats may be reserved with at least one family representative present until 8 a.m. at which time all held seats will be available to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis. Please encourage all family members and friends to be seated at that time. Thank you for your cooperation.

The commencement address will be given by Karl Haffner, a 1985 WWU graduate who is senior pastor of the Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church and the father of a 2019 graduate address.
