JumpStart Leaders (JSLs)
JumpStart Leader 2024 Applications are now open!
What are JumpStart leaders (JSL)?
JSLs are student ambassadors during freshmen orientation. They play an important role in welcoming first-year students to our campus. JumpStart Leaders:
- Work with a group of 15-25 first-year students during the week of JumpStart (9/23-9/27)
- Facilitate group activities
- Lead out with ice breakers and/or team building activities
- Provide tours of campus
- Answer questions about campus and college life
- Help take attendance at both general and breakout sessions
- Check-in students at the cafeteria
- Help incoming students connect with faculty, staff, and current students
- Become a peer leader
- Share your knowledge and experience of WWU
- Share your survival tactics

Qualifications
- Be a returning student
- Be self-motivated
- Have good communication skills
- Knowledgeable of campus resources
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students
- Be available for JumpStart Leader Training (9/19-9/20)
- Be available for JumpStart Week, including some evenings (9/23-9/27)
