WWU Christmas concert

Department of Music celebrates the Christmas season with annual concert

The Walla Walla University Department of Music will hold its annual Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 11, at the University Church. There will be a 6 p.m. performance as well as an 8 p.m. performance. This year’s theme, “Infant Holy,” seeks to capture the wonder and joy of the Savior’s birth through song. The name comes from a Polish carol, “W žłobie ležy”—an arrangement of which will be performed at the concert.

The University Singers and I Cantori of Walla Walla University, under the direction of Kraig Scott and student conductor Lindsay Armstrong, will be featured alongside the WWU Symphony Orchestra, directed by Brandon Beck. A variety of Christmas and sacred pieces, both old and new, will make up this exciting program. Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” is just one of the many selections that will feature the University Singers and the Symphony Orchestra in unison. Additional pieces will be performed by the Walla Walla Valley Academy Praise Ringers.

The University Church is located at 212 SW Fourth St., in College Place. This event is free and open to the public.

If you are unable to attend in person on Friday night, we invite you to join us via live stream at wallawalla.edu/concert during the performance, where a video recording of the performance will also be available for several weeks after the concert.
