As COVID restrictions lighten, wwudrama is excited to perform “I and You” to a live audience on the Donnie Rigby Stage (the Black Box) in the Canaday Technology Center (CTC). The show will run May 22, 23, 27, 29, and 30.
Tickets for each of the performances will be available for purchase online until May 17 and the cost is $10.
“I and You” is written by Lauren Gunderson. It introduces a high school student, homebound due to illness, who receives an unexpected visit from a classmate. It is an ode to youth, life, and the strange beauty of human connectedness.
Madison Turner and Rylee Blake, both senior drama minors, will be directing. They fell in love with the script in a drama writing class last spring. “It talks about a lot of relevant themes, it has hilarious lines, and a head turning ending that makes the audience think for a long time after seeing it,” Turner said.
Turner and Blake have been excited to bring a student-led production back to campus. “All the student actors of this play have stepped up and far surpassed all expectations. We couldn’t be prouder,” Blake said.
Despite the atypical decision to co-direct, Turner and Blake have found that whatever one is missing, the other is always there to make up for. Turner said, “It’s been fun collaborating. We are both excited for this play to come to life with the input that our amazing crew has added in the process.”
The CTC is located at 306 S.W. Fourth St., College Place. Attendees will be asked to follow all guidelines regarding social distancing and mask wearing.
