Adventist Colleges Abroad

Adventist Colleges Abroad (ACA) is a consortium of Seventh-day Adventist Colleges and Universities in North America and Australia which operates under the auspices of the Office of Education of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists located in Columbia, Maryland.

The ACA consortium provides opportunities to qualified secondary and undergraduate students to study in other countries while completing the requirements of their programs at their home colleges. Students are immersed in the culture and life of another country while becoming proficient in its language.

ACA destinations consist of a collection of accredited Adventist schools across Europe, South America, and Asia.

Walla Walla University is a member of the Adventist Colleges Abroad (ACA) consortium. Foreign language majors who have not had residence in a country in which their language is spoken are required to spend their sophomore or junior year abroad. Foreign language minors are required to spend a minimum of one quarter abroad.

Academic credit will be granted as listed in the documents available below for these studies so that a student may be able to complete a full college year abroad. Prospective ACA students must have completed at least one year of collegiate-level foreign language or the equivalent with a minimum language GPA of 3.00 (2.50 overall cumulative GPA). Applicants should consult with their major professors, the modern language department, and the Registrar prior to enrollment.

Language majors must complete three specific courses (nine credit hours) in addition to a minimum of 12 upper-division credits in foreign-language literature at WWU. Language minors must also complete a few required courses at WWU to round out their experience. See the university undergraduate bulletin for more information.

Check the ACA bulletin for course descriptions and prerequisites. The PDF documents available below outline what courses at each international ACA school will apply toward the following WWU requirements/electives:

1) Major/Minor Requirements

2) General Studies Requirements

3) General Electives
