POSITION SUMMARY

Works with all of Campus Ministries programs and leaders to help promote and raise awareness of Campus Ministries events, and maintains a working relationship with ASWWU, the Collegian, and the University Church to keep information up to date and consistent with what is happening through the Chaplain’s Office. Is available for special projects and needs as they arise, and provides supervision for graphic designers, videographers, and web content manager for the creation of needed projects in a timely fashion.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Meets regularly with Campus Ministries Core Team to obtain necessary information to help promote.

  2. Builds relationships with ASWWU PR Manager, Collegian Editor, and Church Secretary in order to help promote Campus Ministry events.

  3. Works with other Campus Ministries team members to help promote events in creative ways (i.e. video, skits, etc…)

  4. Meets once per month with all staff of Campus Ministries.

  5. Provides posters and PowerPoint for each event with plenty of lead time, and a weekly poster/PowerPoint for Vespers that is due every Friday for the following week’s vespers program.

    • Develops and maintains consistent communication with a network of WWU volunteers with quality graphic design experience to help with promotions including posters, skits, video, etc… (poster projects will be paid on an honorarium basis at $15/project…video projects can be negotiated)

      1. Assists in the recruitment of said volunteers

  6. Posts a weekly, “What’s Happening” strip to the Collegian that details in bullet form what is happening that week.

  7. Assures that the quality of the poster production is consistently high.

  8. Supervises Campus Ministries Web and works with Web Content Manager to post new events and keep site up to date and well maintained.

  9. Regularly posts announcements for events on the Community Center site located at the WWU homepage, and sends emails to the campus via that venue.

  10. Assists the Chaplain with special projects as needed.

  11. Works with Campus Ministries & Student Missions to stay current on WWU offerings, policies and procedures.

    • Adheres to WWU’s policies for conduct, daily processes and risk management.

  • Upholds WWU’s code of conduct and standards.

  • Uses WWU’s timekeeping, data collecting and reporting systems consistently and with discretion.

  • Abides by WWU’s risk management and safety policies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education – full-time student status is required and experience is preferred in communication and/or public relations

Licensure/Certification – None required

Experience/Skills

  • Strong passion for Christian ministry in a team-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional social/interpersonal skills a must—clear ability to convey information positively and in a timely manner.

  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to maintain communication and manage multiple projects on deadline as directed.

  • Experience or coursework in areas of ministry, recruiting, communication, marketing or public relations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel a must. Proficiency with InDesign preferable.
