POSITION SUMMARY

Provides the leadership for the coordination of all major WWU Worship programs including Vespers and special worship events (Weeks of Worship, The Weekend, 10 minutes to live worship series). The Program Coordinator is responsible for the platform participants, aside from the Speaker (Campus Chaplain) & Musicians (Music Chaplain), as well as the care of the church and the running of each program from beginning to end (i.e. makes sure programs begin and end on time, have necessary props and that all program participants are aware of the flow of the program). The Program Coordinator is not responsible for the Vespers programs that are not organized by Campus Ministries; however, should provide a platform coordinator for those nights to ensure consistent programming and treatment of the church.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides the leadership for the coordination of Campus Ministries Worship programs.

  2. Prepares weekly program script for Vespers and turns that into Campus Chaplain no later than Thursday’s at 10am for Vespers.

  3. Prepares program script for special worship services and turns that into Campus Chaplain no later than 24 hours prior to said program.

  4. Actively recruits participants for Scripture Reading, Drama, Welcome, Prayer, and other items as needed for Vespers in consultation with other Chaplains.

  5. Reminds program participants of their roles and requirements, along with informing them of the Worship Participants agreement prior to the day of the program.

  6. Meets weekly with Programming team to review and plan Vespers programs and other special worship services as needed.

  7. Meets once per quarter with All Campus Ministries Staff.

  8. Maintains a working knowledge of Media Shout and church computer.

  9. Assists Campus Chaplain with hospitality of guest speakers as needed.

  10. Prepares quarterly Platform Coordinator schedule with other Assistant Chaplains, making sure to include self on at least 4 programs per quarter.

  11. Provides minimal supervision to PowerPoint Ministry Leader.

  12. Works with Campus Ministries & Student Missions office to stay current on WWU offerings, policies and procedures.

  13. Adheres to WWU’s policies for conduct, daily processes and risk management.

  • Uses WWU’s timekeeping, data collecting and reporting systems consistently and with discretion.

  • Abides by WWU’s risk management and safety policies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education – Must be Full-time Student (12 credit hours minimum) during duration of employment.

Licensure/Certification – None required

Experience/Skills

  • Strong passion for Christian ministry in a team-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional social/interpersonal skills a must—clear ability to convey information positively and in a timely manner.

  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to maintain communication and manage multiple projects on deadline as directed.

  • Experience or coursework in areas of ministry, recruiting, communication, marketing or public relations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel a must. Proficiency with InDesign preferable.
