POSITION SUMMARY

Works with the Campus Chaplain to plan and implement and direct the Walla Walla University Homebase program, targeting vocationally oriented students that attend WWCC but who live on the main campus of WWU to experience a discipleship and resident life program. ministry opportunities for Hispanic communities in the North Pacific Union Conference (NPUC). Plans ministry programming and supervises volunteer efforts. Works with WWU’s Marketing and Enrollment Services (MES) representatives to obtain recruitment materials and to identify prospective student leads.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with the Campus Chaplain to identify opportunities for WWU to minister to Hispanic communities in the NPUC, including churches and schools.

  2. Helps plan and implement Hispanic Ministry and Recruitment events and visits. Schedules and organizes ministry-oriented visits to churches and schools as directed by the Campus Chaplain. Assists with WWU presence at key recruiting events such as Spanish Convocations.

  3. Develops and maintains consistent communication with a network of WWU volunteers to help with ministry opportunities, including but not limited to volunteers from campus clubs, WWU academic departments, the Diversity Advisory Committee and WWU administration.

  4. Works closely with the Hispanic Recruitment Coordinator in Marketing and Enrollment Services to utilize recruitment materials, and to identify prospective student leads for MES follow-up.

  5. Provides reports to the Campus Chaplain and to the Vice President for Marketing and Enrollment Services as directed.

  6. Works with Campus Ministries & Student Missions and the Marketing and Enrollment Services office to stay current on WWU offerings, policies and procedures.

  7. Adheres to WWU’s policies for conduct, daily processes and risk management.

  • Upholds WWU’s code of conduct and standards.

  • Uses WWU’s timekeeping, data collecting and reporting systems consistently and with discretion.

  • Abides by WWU’s risk management and safety policies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education – BA or BS in related field required.

Licensure/Certification – None required

Experience/Skills

  • Strong passion for Christian ministry in a team-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional social/interpersonal skills a must—clear ability to convey information positively and in a timely manner.

  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to maintain communication and manage multiple projects on deadline as directed.

  • Experience or coursework in areas of ministry, recruiting, communication, marketing or public relations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel a must. Proficiency with InDesign preferable.
