Get ready to move in to the residence hall

1. Complete the housing application.

All residents requesting to live in the residence hall for Winter Quarter 2021 must fill out the Winter Quarter 2021 Housing Application at abode.wallawalla.edu by Friday, November 27, 2020.

2. Room and roommate assigned.

If you have not listed a specific roommate you will be assigned a roommate based upon your preferences in your housing application by the housing deans. Room placement will be assigned by the housing deans based upon your housing application preferences after you have been assigned a roommate. If you were previously assigned a room during Summer 2020, that room assignment will be considered, but a specific room cannot be guaranteed.

Requests for COVID-19 and medical housing accommodations must be submitted through Disability Support Services. Non-medical room alones cannot be granted at this time.

3. Make an appointment to move in.

Move-In Appointment Scheduling will be released Dec. 7 on abode.wallawalla.edu

We invite you to make an appointment to move into the residence hall beginning Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 (Friday priority is for residents traveling 400+ miles) through Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. Each resident will be allotted three hours to move into the residence hall starting at the time of their self-selected appointment. Available appointment hours are hourly from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and hours are limited on Friday and Saturday out of respect for Sabbath hours.

4. Come prepared to move-in day.

In order to maintain a safe and smooth transition for all students and families:

  • Please stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, have a temperature of 100.4 or higher, or identify as a person of high risk for exposure.
  • We recommend only bringing essentials and that you limit the number of boxes/items as you will have a limited time to move-in and we are unable to provide any volunteers to assist with carrying your belongings. You can always bring more stuff as the year goes along.
  • We will only be allowing up to 2 vehicles per student during move-in and only 2 guests to assist with move-in.
  • All individuals must wear a face mask during the move-in process
  • A total of three hours are allotted for moving in.

On the day of your appointment, please arrive to the designated check-in area at your appointment time. To ensure social distancing can be followed, please do not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to your selected time slot. Students arriving too early will be instructed to exit the parking lot and then return closer to their arrival time. Students arriving late will be moved to a holding area and fit into the process as soon as we are able to.

Designated Check-In Area:
Check-in areas are dependent on the residence hall you are assigned to. Please see attached map for specific locations.

  • Foreman/Conard: Follow signs and directions to park along Ash Street (East of Conard Hall)
  • Sittner: Follow signs and directions to park in the Sittner Day Lot (between University Church and Sittner Hall)

Steps for checking in:

  1. Arrive to your designated check-in area on time to your appointment.
  2. Remain in your vehicle while residence hall staff conducts a general health screening of all guests and vehicle occupants. Important: Please stay home if you are feeling sick or have experienced any COVID-19-like symptoms in the last 14 days. Residence hall entry will not be permitted if you or someone in your group reports a fever of 100.4 or higher.
  3. Digitally complete residence hall documents and paperwork (if you do not have a smart device, tablet will be provided for you).
  4. Receive temporary access card for assigned room and visit room to complete a room inspection.
  5. Submit documents to be officially checked into the residence hall.
  6. Move vehicle to short-term parking or unloading zone as directed by staff. Residents will be given one hour to unload their vehicle. Drivers will be re-directed to long-term parking after unloading.
