Please welcome Mark Haun as our new Associate Professor in Engineering. Mark recently arrived from Seattle where he worked as an electrical engineer for several medical-device companies, then as an engineering consultant, designing signal-processing and computer-vision algorithms. After graduating with a BSE from Walla Walla College in 96, Mark obtained his MS and PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Mark loves to hike and explore the mountains, sometimes hunting for edible mushrooms. He is an occasional cycle tourist, flying his bicycle to exotic places and using it to explore. He is also an amateur astronomer and enjoys getting out under the dark skies of eastern Oregon or Washington with his telescope.
I never anticipated that I would start my college teaching career in the midst of a pandemic, but I’m excited to be here and I look forward to eventually meeting my students and coworkers face-to-face.
