Payment Processing

What is the payment system?

The payment system is used to make payments on general student accounts, aviation accounts, enrollment fees, and make a variety of deposit types.

The payment system is at payment.wallawalla.edu

Do I have to create an account in order to make a payment?

No, you can always make a payment without creating an account; however, you may wish to create an account so you can save your payment information and see account balances, transactions, and statements.

Does the payment system accept debit cards?

Yes.  And WWU does not charge a transaction fee for using debit cards.

Can I run my debit card as a credit card?

No.  Debit cards cannot be processed as a credit card.

Will it accept eChecks?

Yes. Payments can be made with eChecks (also known as  ACH).  WWU does not charge a transaction fee for eChecks.

Will it accept international credit cards?

Some international cards will work. It depends on banking relationships between our payment processor bank and your credit card bank.  Most cards from Canadian banks will work.

What is the fee for credit transactions?

Credit card transaction fees are 2.25%.  Debit cards have zero transaction fees.  ACH/eCheck transactions have zero transaction fees.  We work hard keep these fees as low as possible.

If I have an @wallawalla.edu computer account do I need to create a new account?

No.  If you are a current student, faculty member, or staff of WWU, you already have an account ending in @wallawalla.edu.  You may use that account to sign into the payment system.  You may create another account using a different (non-WWU) email address, but you don't have to.  If you create a separate account those two accounts will not share any information between them.

What if I don't have an @wallawalla.edu computer account?

You may create your own account so that you can save payment information and look up transaction history and statements.  You may create your account using any email address that does not end in wallawalla.edu.

To create your own account, go to the payment system and click on Sign Up.

Can I pay without creating an account or signing in?

Yes.  All you need to know is the WWU ID number of the student, the student's last name, and the amount you want to pay.  The payment will go directly to the student's account.  Without an account, you won't be able to look up account information such as balances or amount due.

When I make a payment, how long does it take to show up on the student's account?

Your payment will show up immediately on the student's account.  You can see that in the transactions section.

Can I have payments made automatically (autopay)?

Yes, you can set a recurring monthly payment amount or an automatic payment of the due amount monthly.

Can I see my old statements?

You can see your old statements going back to July 2017. If you need a statement older than that, the Cashier's Office can assist you.

As a parent of a student, how do I get access to my child's statement and payment information?

The student must grant you access to his or her account. (See the next item.)

As a student, how do I grant access so my parents can see my account and make payments?

As a student you may grant access to your parents (or any other person) to make payments on your behalf and see your transactions and statements.

  1. Sign into the payment system using your @wallawalla.edu account.
  2. Go to Account > Authorized Payers.
  3. Click Add Authorized Payer and fill in the information.
  4. If your parent already has a WWU computer account, there is nothing more to do; they will receive an email notifying them about the additional authorized user.
  5. If your parent does not have a WWU computer account, your parent will receive an email with instructions to validate their email address.
  6. It would be a good idea for you to inform your parent or other authorized payer to expect this email in case it goes into their junk or spam folder.

As a student, can I revoke an authorization?

Yes.  As a student you may revoke the payer authorization at any time by deleting the row from the authorized payers list.

As a parent, what do I do if a receive an email from the Payment System?

If your child adds you as an authorized payer, you will receive an email with the title "New Authorized Payee".  The first thing you should always do is check to ensure that you are not receiving an email from an unauthorized source that is trying to collect your private information.  Use your mouse to hover over the link; ensure that the link starts with https://payment.wallawalla.edu/.  If it says anything other than that it may be a fraudulent email.

If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of an email, do not click on the link.  Call the WWU Cashiers office and ask for assistance.

Can my student see my credit card or bank numbers?

No.  The students cannot see any credit card or bank information of their authorized payers.  They will be able to see the payments made on their accounts (the date of the payment, the amount, and who made the payment).

If I forget my account password, what do I do?

Use the Password Reset feature in the Account menu to reset your password.  If you are using a myWWU account, you can use myWWU to reset your password.

What do I do if something goes wrong or I get stuck?

Call the WWU Cashier at  (509) 527-2912 during regular business hours.

Can I make donations to WWU through the payment system?

Yes, click on the white DONATE button at the top of the WWU home page

Can I change my email address?

Yes.  Go to Account > Profile and click Edit Profile.  You can change your name or email address.  When you change your email address that will be the new email address with which you sign in.

What are the three amounts that show for my account?

Statement Balance

This is the amount that was owing on your account when your statement was generated at the end of last month. This is not reduced when you make payments.

Current Balance

This is the amount that is owed now. This amount is reduced when you make payments, and increases when charges are added to the account.

Amount Due

This is the amount that is due now, and needs to be paid to avoid a finance charge. This amount may be higher than your Current Balance if you have a down payment due for next quarter. This amount may be lower than your Current Balance if a payment is not due until next month. This amount is reduced when you make payments.

Should I sign out when finished?

Yes, it is good security practice to sign out when you are finished.  And, especially if you are using a computer shared by other people, also sign out of your computer's operating system.

How can I get more help?

At the bottom of each page in the payment system is contact information for Computer Support and the Cashier's office.
