The right career path

Career center offers new online assessment tools to help students choose a major

The WWU Career Development Center is offering a new career assessment system that greatly simplifies the career-exploration process for students who are struggling to choose the right major and career focus. The new Focus 2 system allows students to work through assessments that are relevant to them and to receive feedback that helps them better understand their values, skills, academic interests, and personality and how those traits relate to potential career interests. Results are immediately available and information about potential careers is easy to explore through the system.

“The new system has streamlined the process greatly and has given users more independence in the process,” says David Lindstrom, director of the Career Development Center.

Other services offered by the center include help making a resume, applying for graduate school, developing a LinkedIn profile, finding a job, and practicing for interviews. The center hosts graduate school, career, and internship fairs throughout the year as well.
