Christmas in July

Positive Life Radio hosts annual food drive for Inland Northwest food banks

The Positive Life Radio (PLR) Network will host its annual Christmas in July Food Drive on Friday, July 24. This Hands and Heart Project will help replenish the shelves of local food banks throughout the Inland Northwest during the summer months when food bank supplies can get low.

In previous years, nearly 20,000 pounds of food were collected each year during the food drive and were donated to food banks in the cities where the food was collected.

“If you’re looking for a way to help your community, this is a wonderful opportunity,” said PLR midday host Rebecca Hanan. “You will directly affect the lives of your neighbors and fellow citizens by giving to your local food bank.”

To encourage the spirit of giving that is often prevalent around the Christmas holidays, Positive Life Radio will play Christmas music throughout the event on Friday from noon to 6 p.m. Updates and news from drop-off locations will also be announced on PLR during the event.

“We are happy to have been able to host this event for over ten years now,” said Ernest Beck, Network program director. “The outpouring of generosity is always encouraging, especially during the summer time when our local food banks see a pretty large decline in donations.”

A total of sixteen drop off booths will be located throughout the Inland Northwest where you can bring non-perishable foods and personal hygiene items. Find a food drive location close to you by visiting the Positive Life Radio website at plr.org.
