Week of Worship (Fall 2017)

This program will be presented daily at 11:40 a.m. Oct. 2–6, 2017 in the WWU church.

The theme of this year’s program is: TABOO—talking about the topics that we typically don’t talk about.

Taboo: Rules of the Game

A recording of the introductory segment to this series can be viewed on the Walla Walla University Church website >

1. Show up.

“And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, 25not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25, NRSV).

2. Listen up.

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry” (James 1:19, NIV).

3. Preserve peace.

“Be humble. Be gentle. Be patient. Tolerate one another in an atmosphere thick with love. 3 Make every effort to preserve the unity the Spirit has already created, with peace binding you together” (Ephesians 4:2-3, VOICE).

4. Speak truth.

“We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. 15 But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love” (Ephesians 4:14-16, NRSV).

5. Be hopeful, patient, and prayerful.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12, NIV).
