Summer Work - On Campus

    CARPENTRY

Carpentry shop is looking for students who enjoy hands-on work involving repair and maintenance. Background in maintenance preferred but not required. Ideal applicant would work the rest of the summer and continue into the school year. For the summer, 40 hrs per week. When school begins, expected work schedule would include a 3-hour minimum per day and a 9-hour commitment per week. Carpentry maintenance work is varied and done all over campus, an opportunity where you can see the variety of activities that go on throughout all buildings and departments.     CUSTODIAL CREW MEMBER

Responsible for performing major carpet and hard surface floor cleaning in campus buildings.  Duties include polish, remove & recoat tile floors  or extraction cleaning for carpets.     IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN

Looking for someone who enjoys solving problems and wants to learn valuable skills in maintaining irrigation equipment. Duties include, replacing broken sprinklers, fixing leaks in piping, scheduling sprinklers, and many other tasks related to irrigation. Must be able to be on the Universities approved drivers list and be available to work on campus during summer. As with all Campus Grounds jobs, hours are flexible to accommodate school, 10-20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer. Pay starts at $11.50 per hour with the possibility for increase. Due to the nature of this position, individuals who are willing to stick it out for the long haul can and will be well compensated.     LAWN MOWING

Duties include, keeping campus lawns mowed and looking tidy. Position requires operating riding and push mowers, string trimmers, and a variety of other equipment. Some prior experience helpful but not required. Must be able to be on the Universities approved drivers list and be available to work on campus during summer. As with all Campus Grounds jobs, hours are flexible to accommodate school, 10-20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.     PLANT AND FLOWER CARE WORKER

Duties include weeding, trimming, planting, and many other tasks that aid in the upkeep of campus grounds.  May operate small equipment and use many small hand tools.  WWU Approved Driver preferred. Summer availability preferred, but not required.  Pay starts at $11.50 per hour with the possibility for increase. MES is looking for someone to do data entry for student information. Must be Analytically inclined, accurate in typing skills and have high ethical standards for confidentiality. Working some during breaks is a big advantage as an applicant. Minimum of 2 year committment is highly desired, if not 3-4 years and would include possibility of summer work of 20 hours a week. The Equipment Manager maintains, tracks and organizes the video equipment that is checked out on a daily basis. The office of Marketing and University Relations is seeking a student to fill the position of web content/social media intern. Duties in this position will include assisting the web content manager with revising, updating, and maintaining content on wallawalla.edu as well as creating and scheduling content for WWU social media accounts and managing a team of social media ambassadors.     TECHNICIAN

This is a year-round, part-time position, which works an average of four to five hours per week with seasonal flexibility. The technician will be responsible for making sure Amazing Grace Church’s sound board is run for one weekly worship practice and one Sunday service, as well as some special events periodically. The technician will assure that the sound is set up and working well for our Sunday worship services and special programs. This will require communication and collaboration with worship leaders and volunteers. Desired skills include working knowledge of sound mixing boards, microphones, monitors, sound checks, and overall setting the board for practices and services.
