March U-Days FAQ

Questions about March U-Days? Read below to find the answers or download the PDF version here.

For March U-Days, parents are considered sponsors. Thus, parents are responsible for the same things that sponsors are responsible for. You will receive a full responsibility list a few days prior to arrival.

A Walla Walla University representative will act as the sponsor of any student traveling without a sponsor. You will check in with them at each required event and at evening room check in your dorm. Checking in with this sponsor is imperative to receive your reimbursement after U-Days.

Prospective student visitors are hosted in the dorms with current WWU students. We work closely with our Deans to make sure all students are paired with a host. If your student was hoping to be paired with a specific friend or sibling, the current WWU student is responsible to sign up to host. Please contact the WWU student host directly to be sure they know you would like to stay with them.

Sponsors are hosted in a local hotel and a few in our on-campus guestrooms. With over 70 sponsors on average we cannot accommodate special requests for where you would like to stay. We will pair sponsors of the same genders from the same schools in two queen rooms. If you have a preference of who you would like to be paired with, please let us know as soon as possible.

A few days prior to arrival you will receive an email from our event housing coordinator with your lodging arrangements and confirmation number.

We’re excited for you to see your friends here at WWU! Due to the very full schedule of events during U-Days, we would ask that you remain on campus for the duration of your stay. We will have time set aside on Friday for exploring the downtown area of Walla Walla.

Our team arranges a twice-daily transportation run to the local hotel and back to the campus. There will be a pickup in the morning and a return in the evening. Your sponsor packet will include the specific times and the locations that you will meet at.

We have arranged for our Alumni Center Living Room to be available for sponsors. There will be a schedule in your packet of their open hours. When you are not checking in students as part of your sponsor duties you are always welcome to attend the March U-Days events. If you want a break from the events, you are welcome to head to the Alumni Center during any of their open hours.

If you marked on your registration form that you will need transportation, we are planning on picking you up and dropping you off (to and from Walla Walla [ALW] and Pasco [PSC] airports only). We need a copy of your flight itinerary, along with cost of ticket, names of attendees, etc. so that we can make those final arrangements.

We start coordinating the airport transportation after registration closes so that we can be sure to arrange the appropriate vehicles to accommodate all guests. Our transportation coordinator will be in touch a few days prior to your arrival with the name of the person picking you up and their cell phone number.

Important to remember: Be sure you are flying in on Sunday before 3:00 p.m. and out on Tuesday after 3:00 p.m. Once the event starts our team is unable to facilitate transportation.

Please arrange your flights to arrive any time on Wednesday and to depart anytime on Sunday. You must be at all required events to be eligible for reimbursement.

All of the details regarding reimbursements is available on our website.

We will post the schedule a few weeks prior to the event. It will be very similar to last year’s schedule which you can find online here.

All of your meals will be provided in the University cafeteria. The first available meal will be Wednesday night from 5-6 p.m. The last meal is Saturday night from 5-6 p.m. Check your U-Days schedule to be sure not to miss a meal.

Snack sacks will be provided for Sunday Breakfasts so that you can get on the road or your flight quickly.

If you are being picked up at the airport we will check you in by providing you with your packet once we have loaded into the transportation vehicle.

If you are arriving by vehicle, you can check in by picking up your packet on Wednesday at Foreman Hall our Junior/Senior Women’s Residence Hall.
