School of Engineering connects with alumni and celebrates 75-year history in annual networking event

On February 22, the Walla Walla University School of Engineering hosted their third annual networking event. It highlighted the 75-year history of the School of Engineering, celebrated student accomplishments, and shared updates with alumni.

Organized by Melodie Williams, professor of engineering, the program included presentations by engineering faculty, students, and alumni. Professors reminisced on department history, while student leaders from clubs like Engineering Without Borders, Society for Bioengineers, and American Society of Civil Engineers discussed their work. The event also featured the presentation of various student awards and allowed alumni to share recent projects.

Brian Roth, dean of the School of Engineering, said, “The two things I enjoyed most about the networking event were celebrating students through our annual award ceremony and seeing alumni.”

Alumni and students attended the hybrid event, meeting virtually on Teams and in person with small groups gathered in various rooms around Kretschmar Hall. The School of Engineering implemented the networking event in 2020 and continued the tradition virtually in 2021.

The School of Engineering will continue to celebrate its 75-year history at Homecoming Weekend 2022, where two engineering alumni will present seminars on their work in aerospace and virtual reality.
