Festival of Shorts

Annual drama festival to feature student films and plays

The Walla Walla University drama department will present the fourth annual Festival of Shorts in Village Hall on March 2, 7, and 9 at 8 p.m., and March 3 and 10 at 2 p.m.

This year the Festival of Shorts will include seven short films directed by students and four plays performed by students. There will be a mix of genres ranging from drama to comedy. On general each short is professionally written, although a few plays and films are written by students.

“I’m always excited to see what the student and guest directors come up with. I love that we get to see where their artistic visions shine through, and the different styles of theater and film make for a lot of variety and a great show,” said Meghann Heinrich, drama manager and senior communication major.

Festival of Shorts has been an annual tradition at WWU for 58 years and was previously known as The Festival of One Acts.

At the end of each performance the audience will have a chance to vote for their favorite film and play. The votes will be counted at the end of the festival, and the winning director will receive certificate.

Ticket prices are $10, $9, and $8 for general admission, seniors, and WWU students respectively. To reserve tickets visit drama.wallawalla.edu or facebook.com/wwudrama

Village Hall is located at 207 S. College Ave. College Place, Washington.
