WWU Fitness

Walla Walla University offers a variety of fitness and recreational opportunities to its students, staff, and faculty. Beginning Sunday, Feb. 7, WWU recreational facilities will be open for current students, faculty, and staff. Our facilities remain closed to the community due to COVID-19 protocols. 


COVID-19 winter 2021 services update

All WWU facilities are closed to the community. Our water aerobics classes, pool passes, and Kidnastics programs have been canceled. We will miss our community patrons during this time and apologize any inconvenience.

Make a reservation to use the WEC fitness facilities

  • Enter your first and last name as it appears in myWWU.
  • Membership number = your WWU student I.D. number.
  • Enter your date of birth.
  • All fields must be completed to access system.
  • Use “Any Day” drop down menu to select the day you would like to visit the WEC.
  • Use “Any Appointment Type” drop down menu to select type of activity.  
  • Disregard “Any Staff Member” drop down menu.
  • Click “Update” then scroll down to see options.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address WWU has on file. When you arrive at the WEC, enter at Davis Street and check in at the following locations:

  • Cardio, circuit, studio—Fitness center entrance
  • Fitness center annex, table tennis, and gym—Table-tennis area
  • Pool—In front of cage

Locker rooms are closed. Bring your own towel.
When you leave, exit through the 4th Street door.


Tausick Memorial Pool

The Tausick Memorial Pool is 25 yards long and has five lanes. The pool offers facilities for WWU students to take classes in beginning and intermediate swimming, life guard training, and water safety instruction.

COVID-19 protocols:
• The pool is available to current WWU students, faculty, and staff only.
• Current COVID-19 restrictions allow for lap swim only.
• Reservations for lap swim must be made prior to use and are limited to 45-minute sessions.


Teri Kuhlman Fitness Center

The fitness center offers a Cybex circuit, free weight area, functional training area, and a variety of cardio machines. WWU students can take classes in circuit weight training and strength training. There is also space for functional training, video workouts, and a variety of personal workouts. Available equipment includes Rip trainers, TRX straps, Plyo boxes, kettle bells, and other functional training equipment.

COVID-19 protocols:
The fitness center is available to current WWU students, faculty, and staff only. 
Reservations must be made prior to use and are limited to 45-minute sessions.


 


Climbing wall

The new 25 ft. climbing wall at Walla Walla University is now open!. Located in the Winter Educational Complex the new climbing wall will offer top-rope sport routes and a bouldering area with routes ranging in difficulty from 5.4—5.11. Ropes, harnesses, and shoes are available for rent. Climbing wall staff are available to provide assistance during open hours. All abilities are welcome!

• The wall is open to a limited capacity (wall - 8, bouldering - 4 and slackline - 2).
• Reservations are available through our online scheduling portal.

Sunday – Thursday: 7 - 10 p.m.


Gymnastics Gym

The gymnastics gym in the Winter Educational Complex includes a loaded floor, Tumbl Trak, and various other gymnastics apparatuses. WWU students can take classes in tumbling and acrobatic gymnastics. WWU students with previous gymnastics experience are employed teaching Kidnastics, a gymnastics program for children in the community.

COVID-19 protocols:
• The gymnastics gym is currently closed in compliance with Washington state COVID-19 restrictions.


Alumni Gymnasium

The Alumni Gymnasium is located in the Winter Educational Complex. The gym has three basketball courts, three volleyball courts, eight badminton courts, and is open for recreational use.

• The alumni gymnasium is available to current WWU students, faculty, and staff only.
• Reservations must be made prior to use and are limited to 45-minute sessions.


Outdoor facilities 

The outdoor recreational facilities at the Winter Educational Complex include six tennis courts, a softball field, and a football/soccer field. These facilities are located southwest of the gymnasium.

COVID-19 protocols:
• Outdoor facilities are available to current WWU students, faculty, and staff only.
• Outdoor facilities are closed for Sabbath from sundown each Friday to sundown each Saturday.
