Monty Knittel

Monty Knittel joined the Walla Walla University Board of Trustees in 2011. Monty has a Bachelor of Arts in theology from Pacific Union College, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Montana.

Knittel has close ties to WWU.  He taught business administration for two years, before moving to Portland, Ore. to work as the vice president of business development and marketing at Adventist Medical Center. And, he was president and chief executive at Providence Medical Group from 2007-2016. 

Knittel is the president and chief executive of Feather River Hospital in Paradise, Calif., and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).  He has served on the boards of the Washington State Hospital Association, the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, local church boards and multiple chambers of commerce.

He and Patty ('79) have two children, Jason, who graduated from WWU in 2010, and Ashley.

In his leisure time, he enjoys playing golf, traveling, and playing the banjo. He especially enjoys jazz, rock, classical, blues, and bluegrass music.
