Events/Workshops

The Career Development Center hosts events throughout the year to connect Walla Walla University students and alumni with graduate schools and employers, as well as offering various workshops and other career development opportunities. These events are open to WWU students, alumni, and other groups as invited.


Oct. 7, 2014: WA State Legislative & Internship Program

There will be an informational meeting for the Washington State Legislative Internship on October 7 in Alaska Room Lobby at 12:30 pm.

The Washington State Legislative Internship Program is a great opportunity for students to learn the legislative process and gain professional work experience. Interns spend winter quarter or spring semester working in Olympia as staff for members of the Washington State House of Representatives or Senate while they earn credit through their schools. Several interns per year are assigned in the writing of floor speeches, op-ed pieces, talking points and newsletters.

The internship must be taken for credit. Credit amounts and academic requirements are determined by the school. This is a paid internship.

Who is eligible?

  • Students of junior or senior status
  • All majors
  • Attend university/college in Washington state or a resident of Washington state attending college elsewhere

 


October 8-9, 2014: LLU & Andrews University Allied Health Professions Interviews/Info Session

Loma Linda University Allied Health and Andrews University Health Professions are coming to WWU to do interviews with students applying to graduate school. Students must sign up in the Career Development Center (KRH 217) by Monday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.

They are also holding a general informational session for students who wish to learn more. The info session is on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in KCH 346 at 6 p.m. Pizza will be provided!


October 9, 2014: Graduate School Fair

Graduate schools are coming! Come and learn more about graduate school programs and what different schools have to offer. This is also a great networking opportunity for students considering graduate school, and who wish to further their education. This fair is especially for forward-thinking sophomores and above. The event will take place in the Alaska Room in Kellogg Hall from 4 to 7 p.m.

October 20-21, 2014: LLU Health Management Residency & Business Internship Program

Shaunielle Abreu from Loma Linda University will be here October 20 & 21 to promote their Management Residency & Business Internship program. There will be an information session at 6:00 p.m. on October 20 at KCH 346, and 30-minute interviews on October 21.

Students who are enrolled in the following programs may be particularly interested:

  • Business
  • Communications
  • Public Relations
  • Marketing
  • Engineering
  • Nursing

October 22, 2014: LLU School of Pharmacy Information Session & Interviews

Shastin Rains will be hosting an information session about Pharmacy at 6:00 pm in Rigby 220. She will be talking about the LLU School of Pharmacy program, admission requirements, and pharmacy careers.

She will also be available to meet with students individually during the afternoon of October 22. She will be conducting official interviews as well as general advising appointments. Come by the Career Center to make an appointment.

 


October 27-28, 2014: Loma Linda University School of Medicine Interviews/Info Session

Dr. Sarah Roddy from LLU School of Medicine will be hosting a general Information Session on Monday, October 27, at 6:00 pm in RGH 220.

She will also be conducting interviews with students applying to medical school. Students must sign up in the Career Center (KRH 217) by Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.

 


October 28-30, 2014: Loma Linda University School of Dentistry Interviews/Info Session

Loma Linda University School of Dentistry is coming to WWU to do interviews with students applying to graduate school. Students must sign up in the Career Development Center (KRH 217) by Thursday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. Interview slots are filling up quickly!

They are also holding a general informational session for students who wish to learn more. The info session is on Tuesday, October 28 in Rigby Room 220 at 6:30 p.m. A light dinner will be provided!


October 29: Colloquium on Applying & Interviewing for Jobs

Join us for this important Colloquium on applying and interviewing for jobs! We will have a panel of employers/recruiters to give you some great information on what they look for during their hiring processes. This event takes place in RGH 112 at 7:30 p.m. Come learn about applying for jobs and network with potential employers.

 


November 10, 2014: Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences

Michael Riggin from Pacific Northwest University will an Information Session for pre-med students on November 10 at 6:00 p.m. in RGH 220. PNWU is one of only 26 Osteopathic Medicine programs in the country. They also offer a Physician Assistant program and a Masters of Medical Science.


February 25, 2015: Career & Internship Fair

We are inviting employers to come and meet YOU! The Career & Internship Fair is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Winter Education Complex. We depend on student participation to make this event a success. There will be employers looking for students to fill internship positions and jobs. Take advantage of this opportunity and talk to the employers. If you're not looking for an internship or job at the moment, it is still a great experience. The Career Development Center can assist you in preparing your resumes and cover letters in advance.
