Mapping Windows Drives

These instructions and examples were generated on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 system.  If you're using a different distribution you have to do things a bit differently, but the values for the fields should be the same.

Follow these steps to map a windows drive on a RHEL5 workstation:

  1. Click 'Places' on the system menu bar
  2. Click 'Connect to Server...'

Use the examples below to set the correct options in the 'Connect to Server' dialog box.  Replace <USER.NAME> with your Active Directory user name.  Replace <DEPARTMENT_NAME> with with your department's Active Directory container name.

If you're not sure what your <DEPARTMENT_NAME> is, you can find it by logging into a Windows workstation and looking at the drive mappings.
