Long Distance

Long distance service is available on most faculty and staff telephones. This feature can be restricted from a particular phone if necessary. In order to block fraudulent phone calls that the university might be responsible for we have blocked all direct dial calls to area codes 203 or 809. These area codes include the Dominican Republic and other countries to which 90% of all toll fraud takes place.   If you need to make calls to these area codes please use a calling card which you can pick up at a local grocery or big box store.

Long distance calls are made by dialing 8 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX. International calls are made by dialing 8 011 XXXXXX, where XXXXXX is the country code, city code, and number. International numbers are usually six to 12 digits in length.
