The Walla Walla University Church will hold a 50th Anniversary Celebration on Sabbath, Oct. 20, 2012.

At 10:30 a.m., in WWU’s Fine Arts Center Auditorium, Terrie Aamodt, professor of history, will give a special Sabbath School presentation on the history of the church community. At the end of program, the group will be led in a re-enactment of the walk made 50 years ago from Columbia Auditorium to the new sanctuary, where they will be greeted with trumpets as the original marchers were.

At the 11:30 a.m. church sanctuary service, Alex Bryan, senior pastor, will discuss why history and traditions matter. Music from the 1962 service will be incorporated into the program as well as a commemorative hymn written by Bryan and Kraig Scott, the church's minister of music.  The service will also include reflections from church members who made the original march.

The University Church currently serves 2,400 members.
