The Road Ahead
WWU co-sponsors sustainability forum
Walla Walla University is co-sponsoring The Road Ahead: A Sustainability Forum, to be held at Whitman College on Thursday, July 10. The event will take place in the Reid Center ballroom; doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for networking at sponsor tables, and the forum will begin at 7 p.m.
This is an event for anyone concerned about the rising cost of food or gas, those who keep hearing about climate change and want to know what they can do, and everyone who is wondering how we can continue to sustain ourselves as fossil fuels continue to become more expensive.
The event will feature the latest information on global changes affecting our community, a panel discussion on what we should be doing locally to meet present and future needs, a public comment period, and a final networking session at information tables staffed by sponsoring organizations.
Panelists will include Susanne Croft, sustainability coordinator for the City of Spokane, Whitman College scientist Bob Carson, Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce president Tim Larkin, port commissioner Mike Frederickson, city manager Duane Cole, Homeless Coalition member Noah Leavitt, and long-time resident and householder Jenny Romine. Walla Walla Community College president Steve Van Ausdle will moderate the forum.
To learn more about what the Walla Walla Valley community is doing to better its sustainability, and to find out where Walla Walla University falls in that plan, come to The Road Ahead: A Sustainability Forum, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.
