Students Safe Following Dorm Flooding
Burst pipe causes minimal damage
Foreman Hall residents were awakened at 6:30 this morning by a fire alarm. The alarm was triggered by steam from a hot water pipe that had burst above the 7th floor.
Residents were ushered into Conard Chapel where they waited until it was determined that is was safe to return to their rooms.
Damage to the building was contained to the seventh floor where water leaked into the west hall and lounge area. Also, some water did leak into three residents' rooms, but there was no significant damage.
Currently, only 7th floor residents have not been allowed to return to their rooms. At this time, dorm deans are unsure whether these residents will be able to occupy their rooms by this evening.
If the seventh floor needs to remain closed tonight, deans will assist residents in finding other sleeping accommodations.
