Professor to Speak On How Music is Compelling to Him
By: Rosa Jimenez
Walla Walla Adventist Forum presents speaker Kraig Scott for a Feb. 16 program. Scott, professor of music at Walla Walla University, will present "How Music Has Kept My Attention.”
In his presentation, Scott, who is also minister of music at the University Church, will discuss what he finds most compelling about music and why it is important to him in his personal, professional, and spiritual life.
The lecture will be held Sabbath, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. at the University Church. The event is free and open to the public.
Scott’s responsibilities at the university include conducting the university choirs, teaching organ and harpsichord, serving as church organist, and overseeing all music at the University Church. Since assuming direction of the university’s choral groups four years ago, he has organized performance tours for I Cantori, the university’s ensemble choir, to San Francisco, Honolulu, and southern California, and throughout the Northwest. Since 2006 he has served as district convener (Eastern Washington) for the American Guild of Organists.
Adventist Forum is an independent organization whose mission is to "foster community through conversation and a renewal of genuine Adventism that impacts the world for Jesus. Prompted by the grace and peace of Jesus, we will embrace a commitment to spiritual purpose, engage in thoughtful conversation, and champion a renewal that encourages effective and faithful service."
