Scott to Open "First Thursday" Season

Concert Donations to Benefit Jonna Buell Memorial Scholarship

Organist Kraig Scott will perform for the opening event of the First Thursday concert season at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Walla Walla. The concert will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Scott, professor of music at Walla Walla University, is a former organist of St. Paul’s. The performance will include compositions by J.S. Bach, Herbert Howells, Louis Vierne, "plus a few surprises".

The concert is also a benefit to raise funds for the Jonna Buell Memorial Scholarship fund. Donations for the scholarship will be taken at the concert. The scholarship fund was established as a memorial tribute to Jonna Buell and her dedication to education.  Buell, a 1989 WWU graduate, passed away in 2009.  Buell was an active volunteer at Rogers Adventist School, Walla Walla Valley Academy, and WWU.

First Thursday concerts are from 12:15-12:50 p.m. the first Thursday of the month and feature a variety of ensembles and soloists throughout the year.
